VIDEO: This is what happens to your body when you quit smoking

Carl Kinsella

Have you ever tried to quit smoking?

Anyone who has ever tried will tell you that giving up cigarettes is the one of the toughest challenges you can undertake. However, most people will tell you that once you’ve overcome the addiction, it’s also totally worth it.

A video, posted to Facebook this week by Health Hacks, gives a graphic representation of all the good things that happen inside your body when you make the decision to let go of your bad habit.

Not only does your clothes smell better, your circulation and lung function improves, after one year the risk of heart disease is cut in half, after five years the risk of stroke is the same as a non-smoker and after ten years your risk of lung cancer is half as high as that of an active smoker.

Check out the video below for a fuller list of benefits you can pick up by putting the cigarette down.
