You’ve been cooking pasta wrong all your life

Cathy Donohue

Say what?!

So the standard method for cooking pasta is to put the water in a pot, wait for it to boil and then add your pasta.

If you remember, and we continually forget this bit, you might add a drizzle of olive oil to stop the pasta from sticking to the pan.

However, it appears we’ve been wrong all this time according to the folk over at Chow Hound.

We’ve been making a few mistakes too starting with the fact that a frying pan is supposedly better than a pot when it comes to cooking pasta.

Then you should put the pasta in before the water (blasphemy) and add cold water (this can’t be real).

To judge how much water you should put in, the liquid should cover the pasta by half an inch.

Then you turn the heat to a medium/high temperature and stir.

Apparently, and we’re going to try this out immediately, your pasta will cook quicker than the traditional method and taste better too…
