He hasn’t been a prolific scorer for Stoke City since he joined two years ago, but today Kenwyne Jones scored one of his best ever with a deft touch at the Britannia.

The powerful centre-forward is noted for his direct play and aerial ability but he showed great footwork to back-heel Ryan Shotton’s cross in the box in response to Southampton's impressive start.
Stoke are often criticised for their ‘Wimbledon’ style approach to games but Tony Pulis feels it is the best method for this bunch of players. That goal however was out of the top drawer and demonstrated that at times, the Potters have the ability to open up defences on the ground.
An unusual day at the Britannia. Not only have Stoke supporters witnessed an out of character team goal, it is also the first time they have conceded more than one league goal at home.
