Amazon are developing a huge Lord Of The Rings game alongside their new TV series

One game to rule them all.

Something has to fill that Game Of Thrones hole in our lives, and while the GOT prequel may eventually get round to it, the smart money is on the new Lord Of The Rings TV series.

Amazon Studios are dropping a cool BILLION DOLLARS on the project, and recently announced that they’ve got one of the best directors in the game helming the first few episodes, but it looks like they’ve even more in store for fans of Middle Earth.

Amazon Game Studios, which snapped up developers previously responsible for the likes of Destiny, System Shock 2, and World of Warcraft, have announced they’re co-producing a new free-to-play MMO game based on the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy.

It isn’t 100% clear yet if the game will run parallel to the story being told in the new TV series – which is set in the same place, but not the same time, as the movies – or if the game will remain within the world set-up by Tolkien’s trilogy of books.

Either way, while neither the show or the game should be expected for at least another few years, you can anticipate Middle Earth being all anybody is talking about once they both arrive.
