Pat Kenny has defended his response to the revelations regarding Gerry Ryan's cocaine use, and wouldn't do anything to ruin Ryan's reputation.
Speaking in relation to the recent inquest, he has said that he wouldn't dance on his good friend's grave.
"When I was called by a journalist looking for me to diss my friend, to dance on his grave, I simply was not prepared to do that for her to sell papers," he said.
"There was no expectation tht the inquest would prove anything other than what we knew at the time of his sudden death, so it was a great shock that news came out."
Speaking about the silence from RTÉ, he continued: "The silence was not a conspiracy, it was just individuals like myself did not want to add any grief to his family."
On Saturday there were reports in the papers that there is to be random drug tests at RTÉ.
But according to Pat, he's not aware of a drug culture at the State broadcaster. "I just have to say, there is no sense of a massive cocaine scene," he said.
"I didn't know Gerry had an issue with cocaine at the time of his death and if I had I would have tried to help him."
