As winds reached a staggering 155 km/h last night, Storm Eleanor caused havoc throughout the country.

And although the winds are decreasing – a status orange weather warning still remains in place for many counties until 2pm today.

Last night over 57,000 homes were without power last night and today a staggering 27,000 homes continue to struggle without power as the ESB work to return power this morning.

Many people took to Twitter sharing images and videos of the flooding and winds throughout the country last night. The hashtag “Storm Eleanor” began to trend and we have compiled some of the best tweets that show the storm at its peak of impact.
