Big news for fans of the podcast.

Spotify continues to scoop up the biggest audio offerings around as it has confirmed Irish musical comedy duo The 2 Johnnies, AKA Johnny McMahon (Johnny Smacks) and Johnny O’Brien (Johnny B), will move their podcast exclusively to Spotify.

The podcast has a loyal following across the world with over one million listens each month and is the latest in a long line of podcasts making their way to Spotify’s shores.

“172 weeks ago, we rang the one fella we knew who knew about podcasts and asked him how to upload it, we wanted to do a podcast for the man in the van, the girl making the chicken roll, the lad on his way home from a few pints, now we are gonna bring it to the whole world and we can’t wait,” The 2 Johnnies said in a statement.

“Here is to the future. Thanks to everyone who supported us, we are gonna drive it on for ye [sic].”

The 2 Johnnies will join the likes of Brydon &, JaackMaate’s Happy Hour, The Receipts Podcast, Sorted with the Dyers, and Rose and Rosie: Parental Guidance, some of the more popular podcasts currently on the platform.

“There’s so much great talent coming out of Ireland and we’re massive fans of Johnny and Johnny: what they’ve achieved in such a short space of time as the fastest-growing Irish podcast is pretty inspiring,” Head of Studios, Spotify UK and Ireland, James Cator said.

In recent months, Spotify has brought the likes of The Joe Rogan Experience as well as The Bill Simmons Podcast to its platform with the former causing some controversy.

Recently, Rogan drew criticism for encouraging young people not to get a Covid-19 vaccine if they’re healthy.
