Irish tourists look set to have a lot of love for Turkey and Croatia next year.

Seeing as how we’re heading further and further into the depths of an Irish winter, now is right about the time when we all start looking forward to our next escape to the sun.

The folks at Skyscanner have put together a list of top destination predictions for Irish holidaymakers in 2019 based on an analysis of data from 2016 to 2018.

Just outside of the top 10, you’ll find destinations like Nashville, Vancouver, Naples, and Minsk, but the majority of the top spots are taken up with European destinations.

  1. Agadir, Morocco

Skyscanner had this to say about the top pick: “With 300 days of sunshine a year and an array of beautiful beaches, small towns and fishing villages on its doorstep, Agadir is one of Morocco’s best-known coastal resorts. Enjoy a relaxing traditional Berber massage in a local hammam, or a scenic camel ride into the sunset before an authentic Moroccan dinner in one of the promenade’s bustling restaurants. Agadir is one of the best destinations to find winter sun – and splendid sunsets – in January.”

  2. Paphos, Cyprus

  3. Split, Croatia

  4. Dalaman, Turkey

  5. Stuttgart, Germany

Stuttgart has been found to be one of the best value destinations for Irish tourists, with flight prices dropping over 60% in the last three years alone.

  6. Istanbul, Turkey

  7. Bilbao, Spain

  8. Mykonos, Greece

  9. Alexandria, Egypt

  10. Zagreb, Croatia

Meanwhile, Skyscanner have also put together the five best value destinations for 2019, based on comparative price drops expected in 2019 against the previous prices from those same destinations between 2016 and 2018.

Those five destinations are Stuttgart in Germany, Lyon in France, Munich in Germany, Nashville in the USA, and Reykyavik in Iceland.

For that final destination, which has proven to be increasingly popular with Irish tourists, the folks at Skyscanner have put together a handy guide on the best time to visit Iceland, which you can check out right here.
