5 things that you need to know about Shahira Barry, Kim Kardashian’s Irish stand-in

Another Irish success story

Another Irish success story.

While it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, there’s no denying that Keeping Up With The Kardashians has become a global hit because there are very few people in the world that don’t know the names of the stars from the E! show.

I’d wager that there might be a few more Irish people watching the show now after Athenry model/actress Shahira Barry gave an insight into her work as Kim Kardashian’s stand-in when she was interviewed by Anton Savage on Today FM.

Naturally there has been a lot of interest in Shahira since that interview so here are 5 things that you may not know about her.

1) Brains and beauty

Before Shahira moved to Hollywood to pursue her career, the Galway girl studied to become a primary school teacher. By that logic, I’m assuming that she must be an cailín cliste as Gaelige’.

I’ll be honest and admit that my teacher didn’t look like this.

2) She’s a Conor McGregor fan

Not that surprising given that she’s Irish but Shahira hasn’t been shy about offering her support to The Notorious.

3) Expect to see her pop-up elsewhere

While her work as Kim Kardashian’s stand-in on E! is sure to take up some of her time, Shahira has been busy elsewhere also.

The Galwegian has featured as a dancer in the Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars smash-hit ‘Uptown Funk’ and as a guest in the video for Maroon 5  ‘Sugar’.

She also seems to keep the company of some pretty well known artists.

4) She knows good writing when she sees it.

I’m certain that she reads JOE also (if so then hey Shahira!) but this article from the ladies at Her.ie definitely spoke to her Galway roots.

5) The acting takeover

While Shahira is still working to establish her name Stateside, it seems that she’s not just confined to TV and model work.

She has already had small roles in Ted 2, Zac Efron’s latest EDM inspired movie We Are Your Friends and in the latest series of True Detective, alongside our own Colin Farrell.

Good luck to her.
