Brand new Wine & Cheese Festival 2019 sounds like a truly unique experience

Do you love a good cheese board and a big glass of vino?

If you’re not keen on fancy restaurants with an intimidating vibe, Dublin’s Wine & Cheese Festival might be exactly what you’re looking for.

This brand spanking new event will take place on 8-11 August in the beautiful Iveagh Gardens.

A fun approach to wine and cheese

The innovative foodies organising the festival are behind other creative events like Sunday Sessions at Pot Duggans, so this is bound to be just as fun.

Last year they organised an Eatyard wine and cheese festival which turned out to be a huge success. Now they’re hoping to recreate the magic on a much larger scale!

They’ve put together a fantastic line up of music, entertainment, demos and pre-bookable tastings. Masterclasses will be happening too, so you can learn how to throw a wine and cheese party from the professionals!

There’s going to be hot food vendors, and a vegan friendly one, but aside from that the festival will be wine and cheesey all the way.

Ireland’s top wine and cheese people will be there to taste, eat, drink, talk and dance all weekend.

As if you needed any more reason to love this festival, the organisers are aiming to make it as low waste as possible, banning (as much as possible) single-use plastic from the site.

There will be reusable wine glasses for all vendors instead of disposables. Only biodegradable disposables will be used by food vendors. See here for further info.

But you want to know what we’re most excited for? The Cheesy Singalong Social, Easy Singles speed dating and the Ultimate Irish Toastie Championship!

At only €16 for a daytime slot, or €20 for the evening, tickets are super affordable. And with their super green ethos, you’re bound to be asking yourself ‘wine not’?

Who can we expect to see?

Some of the ‘gratest’ cheese and wine companies from across the country will be making an appearance over the weekend.

‘Best Wine Experience’ winner Green Man Wines will be bringing a taste of their Terenure shop and restaurant to the Iveagh Gardens, along with Wine Lab, Cork’s L’Atitude 51 and Wines Direct.

These companies all play their part in serving wines from small-scale independent winemakers and sourcing independently made wines. The thriving Irish wine scene has so much to thank them for!

If your tastes are a little more alternative, Kinsale Mead will be making an appearance too, with their unique and refreshing Irish drinks.

For any wine-drinkers, there will be a Brewtonic bar offering craft beers, low and no-alcohol options. Not to mention lots of fun cocktails and spritzes too.

And finally, for all you dairy girls, Sheridans Cheesemongers and Corleggy Cheese will be coming through with an incredibly varied selection of cheeses!

Charcuterie and burgers will be provided by The Wooded Pig, Handsome Burger cheeseburgers, Vish Shop and Beo Wine Bar & Kitchen.
