Aldi Ireland employees will receive a salary boost as a result.

As of 1 February, Aldi will implement the €12.30 per hour Living Wage as the minimum rate of pay for employees.

As of the same date, Aldi store assistants will earn up to €14.10 per hour, while the retailer also confirmed the creation of 550 new jobs for 2020 for store assistants, assistant store managers and store managers across 140 stores nationwide.

Aldi also revealed plans to open nine new stores across the country this year and plans to renovate a further 14 stores.

Giles Hurley, CEO for Aldi UK & Ireland, said: “At Aldi we pride ourselves in being one of the best employers in the country, employing almost 4,000 staff from across Ireland and paying them accordingly for the quality work they do.

“That is why we are delighted to announce that Aldi will again meet the Living Wage Technical Group’s recommended minimum wage of €12.30 per hour, in addition to our plans to hire 550 new staff throughout the year.”
