These simple tips will have you feeling revived in no time.

We’ve all had days where we feel like we’re running on empty. No matter what you try, there’s nothing in the tank and it’s almost impossible to get your day going.

Luckily, it doesn’t have to be this way. These are our top tips if you’re looking for a much-needed energy boost or want to adopt new habits that will leave you feeling revived and full of beans.

1. Go outside

Going outside and getting a bit of nature can help to revive you, according to scientific research. This isn’t necessarily an option if you’re in work but something as simple as a lunchtime walk in a nearby park can make you feel revitalised.

2. Get enough sleep

In the course of a night, we go through five cycles of sleep with the last one being Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. If you’re getting less than seven hours a night you might struggle to achieve restorative REM sleep, which can leave you tired but also your affect memory and coping mechanisms.

3. Posture up

Bad posture might give you a hunch but it could also be affecting your energy levels. A university study found that slouching or poor posture can lead to low energy or depression. On the flip side, adopting a better posture can give you more energy and allow an increased oxygen flow, which helps keep you energised.

4. Increase your magnesium and zinc intake

Magnesium is proven to reduce tiredness and zinc aids brain power. Getting enough of these two minerals can give you a daily boost and the new Deep RiverRock Revive range makes it easier than ever to stay topped up with both.

5. Get off your phone before bed

The blue light emitted by your phone mimics the brightness of the sun so it tricks your brain into thinking it’s daytime. That stops it producing melatonin, the hormone that tells you it’s time to sleep. This disturbs your sleep cycle and decreases your chances of getting REM sleep, which you need to recharge.

6. Drink more water

It’s recommended that you drink at least 2.5 litres of water a day, although this can obviously vary depending on the person and the climate. Still, many of us are permanently dehydrated, which can leave you tired and drained. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty as thirst is a sign that your energy is already depleted.

7. Embrace plants

We’re not suggesting that you start hugging trees, although that’s always an option. Plants absorb carbon dioxide and environmental pollutants that can make you feel tired. So having plants around you can actually boost your energy levels.

When you need to revive, try Deep RiverRock with zinc or magnesium. In line with the rest of the Deep RiverRock range, Revive and Relax is sugar free with no calories.
