5 Irish emojis we wish existed

Justine Stafford

These need to be made immediately…

We’ve all been there, trying to text our friend in the depths of a gruelling hangover.

Yes, we want to tell them we need a chicken fillet roll to aid us in our struggle, but dear God it’s so many letters to type.

Why can’t there just be a chicken fillet roll emoji instead?

We hear you, and we’re here to help.

We’ve compiled a list of five emojis we seriously wish existed, to be used in some uniquely Irish situations where words simply don’t suffice.

1. Chicken Fillet Roll

Chicken Fin

Ah the humble chicken fillet roll… Where would we be as a nation without it?

The staple diet of students across the country, and the saving grace in moments of hangover need. This emoji is one we would certainly be sending on a daily basis.

2. Stuck in Traffic

Stuck Traffic Fin

This one will resonate more with rural dwellers.

Getting stuck behind a herd of cattle is a 100% legit, and accepted excuse for being late to any event. Having an emoji to now simply express this, as opposed to explaining it for the 100th time, would be a very useful emoji indeed.

3. Lovely Cans

Lovely Cans Fin

I really don’t think we need to explain why this should be an emoji.

4. The ref’s a boll*x

referee

Anyone who has ever been to a local Junior B GAA match will know the pain of having a referee who seems to give some very questionable soft frees to the opposition.

It’s infuriating and heartbreaking and having this bad boy would certainly sum up our feelings on the matter in emoji form.

5. The Fear

Fear Fin

Finally, this one is for how the kids say you “can’t even”.

Ironically, it may be used after a night of the “lovely cans” emoji. When words (and memory) fail you, this little emoji is just what you need to send to your friends.

Got any more you think should be added to emoji keyboards everywhere? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
