A Sydney worker was given a very nasty surprise by a redback spider when sitting on the toilet

We don’t even want to imagine the pain.

A 21-year-old builder was bitten by a redback spider when sitting on a portaloo in Kogarah in south Sydney.

The bite was on his penis, we might add.

The Advertiser have reported the incident and, although the man was in a great deal of pain, he managed to make his own way to the hospital, where he is believed to be in a stable condition.

If you’ve ever been in Australia, you’ll know how dangerous redback spiders are and how the bites cause excruciating pain for humans. However, since the advent of anti-venom a half a century ago, there have been far fewer fatalities.

SYDNEY, NSW - JANUARY 23: A Redback Spider is pictured at the Australian Reptile Park January 23, 2006 in Sydney, Australia. The Redback, probably Australia's best-known deadly spider is found all over Australia and is a close relative of the Black Widow Spider from the U.S. Only the female Redback is considered dangerous, with their venom containing neurotoxins, which works very slowly. Fatalities, even from untreated bites, are rare. Australia is home to some of the most deadly and poisonous animals on earth. (Photo by Ian Waldie/Getty Images)

For you or your loved ones living Down Under, the immediate reaction advised in the event of being bitten is to apply ice to the area, before calling emergency services.
