A Mayo taxi driver is making a very sound gesture to Leaving Cert students and Pieta House tonight

Conor Heneghan

And it’s not for the first time either.

Today is the day that thousands of Leaving Cert students around the country received their results and understandably, they’ll want to go out and celebrate.

It’s a long year and after all the hard work they put in, they deserve to let off some steam.

As he has done last year and the year before, Mayo taxi driver Joe Freeley will be on hand to help as many students as he can to get home safely, by providing free transport for students later on tonight.

Joe won’t be charging a fare, instead offering his customers the chance to make a voluntary contribution to Pieta House, who have benefitted from Joe’s generosity in recent years.

It’s a very sound thing of Joe to do and it would be great to see others throughout the country follow suit.

To all you Leaving Certs out there, have a great night tonight and be sure to look after yourselves.
