Action Packed: Things to do around Ireland this weekend

Three events to add a bit of life into your weekend...

JOE

Sick of sitting around bored out of your mind? Then why not check out these three great events located around Ireland…

If you fancy getting out of the house for a day to do something you won’t forget in a hurry, then these awesome activities will most definitely leave you wanting more, all with thanks to MSL.

Take a break from your comfort zone

Fancy yourself as a poet, writer, songsmith, musician or comedian; why not jump in at the deep end at the Irish Writers’ Centre open mic night this Friday.

Everyone is welcome and it’s entirely free (with a donation of €5 encouraged). Each performer gets five minutes on the mic, with the line-up on a first come, first served. basis. The event is also BYOB.

Take a hike

What better way to maintain the new year/new you buzz than to hike across the Dublin Mountains on Sunday Morning.

Coillte have helped organise an exciting walk from Bohernabreena through to Slievenabawnoge and Seahan this weekend.

Although this walk is free, booking is necessary. Contact [email protected] referencing Walk 4: February 1st, giving your name and mobile phone number.

Once you book before midday on Friday, you can be sure of a place on this walk.

Hip Hopping, Beat-boxing Trad

Trad, but not as we know it.

This week sees the return of the acclaimed Temple Bar Tradfest and with it comes a great gig for all the family at The Ark on Sunday.

Mixing traditional Irish dance tunes and hip-hop beats from the 1990s, this unusual family trad gig promises nothing less than terrific tracks to tap your toes to, and a new perspective on trad too.
