Al Porter nominated for ‘the Oscar of stand-up comedy awards’ in Edinburgh

Tony Cuddihy

The Tallaght comic is heading for very, very big things.

Already a massive hit here in Ireland, comedian Al Porter has been nominated for Best Comedy Show at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards.

The 23-year-old is in prestigious company for what used to be the Perrier Awards, and his show – At Large – has been seen by the likes of Steve Coogan, Seann Walsh and Jack Dee.

“I’ve been having a ball with audiences of all ages over here in Edinburgh,” he told RTE Entertainment.

“To be nominated for this award like my heroes Tommy Tiernan and Dylan Moran were before, is just surreal.

“I’m definitely expecting a free pint in my local The Dragon in Tallaght now.”
