PIC: This ambitious chat-up note was discovered on the floor of a famous Dublin nightspot this weekend

Looking for love.

McGowan's

Were you in McGowan’s of Phibsborough on Friday night?

As one of the most popular nightspots on the north side of Dublin, we’d venture that McGowan’s has heard some amount of chat-up lines over the years.

We doubt, however, that too many of the pub’s customers have tried to make their advances on the object of their desire with a handwritten note, especially in an age where digital media is king.

The pub posted a picture on Facebook of a note that was discovered by the cleaners on Saturday morning, a note on which promises of Netflix, pizzas and home-cooked breakfast are written in an attempt to coax the recipient to spend the night at the home of its author.

Whether the tactic of a handwritten note proved successful or not is unclear; we guess the subject of the advance had to decide whether the promise of good TV and good food outweighed the fact that the author obviously still lives with his or her parents.

The fact that it was discarded on the floor means that the advances were likely rejected, or even worse, went unseen, which would be a crying shame considering the sheer days hours minutes of effort that clearly went into it.

Were you in McGowan’s on Friday night? Were you the author or perhaps the intended recipient of the note in question?
