America’s most unhealthy restaurant meal has been revealed and it is an absolute monster of a feed

We're all for having a big dinner but this is a beyond ridiculous thing to order.

We’re all for having a big dinner but this is a beyond ridiculous thing to order.

It’s a dirty job but somebody has to do it. Every year the American Centre for Science in the Public Interest checks out the top 200 chain restaurants in the US and ranks their unhealthiest meals based on calories, fat, sodium and sugar content.

They select nine of the most over-the-top meals for their annual Xtreme Eating awards. You can check out the full list of gut-busting menu options here but we thought we’d bring you the top one, the big boy, what is officially the most unhealthy meal you can order in America.

And here it is, the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Monster Meal, available at each and every one of their 470 outlets.

Monster meal

It doesn’t look like much, but the devil is in the detail. The A1 Peppercorn comes with ‘hardwood-smoked bacon, melted Pepper-Jack, A.1. Peppercorn Spread, tomatoes and crispy onion straws’ and you can add in an extra burger for just two dollars.

The fries are bottomless, so that will mean you can, and probably will, eat a lot of them.

Then there is the shake, a Monster Salted Caramel Milkshake, for just $4, or an extra $1 to make it refillable too.

The double burger weighs in at 1,670 calories, a huge chunk of the 2,500 daily allowance for a man. One serving of the fries, so long as you don’t get it refilled, is 370 calories and the shake is a whopping 1,500 calories.

That totals 3,540 calories in one meal. And, according to the report it also include 69 grams of saturated fat,  four days’ worth of sodium (6,280 milligrams) and 38 teaspoons of sugar.

To burn off the calories contained in the meal would require a 12-hour brisk walk. TWELVE hours.
