That sure told them…
Unless you were living under a rock yesterday, or at least a metaphorical rock that prevented you from using the internet, you’ll have caught up with one of the biggest stories of the day, a ridiculously patronising report about Ireland on American entertainment channel TMZ.
If you haven’t seen it yet, you can do so here – prepare to be angry – but in a nutshell, the report basically puts forward the notion that people in Ireland wouldn’t have had a clue who Jay-Z and Beyonce were on their recent trip here and that we should all thank the rapper for putting us on the map.
The worst thing about it all for many was that those theories were actually supported by an Irishman in the studio, but another of our own, iRadio DJ Cormac Moore, has hit back at the entertainment behemoth by leaving them a very cutting and very funny message on their voicemail service.
We’ll let you hear it for yourself above, but basically he points out that we left Beyonce and Jay-Z in peace because we’re not as obsessed with celebrity here as they are Stateside and lists a helluva lot of worthy Irish men and women who helped put us on the map long before one of the most famous couples were even born.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it TMZ.
