Don’t get caught out.

Bank of Ireland customers are advised to be on the lookout for a sophisticated hack, following reports of a new scam doing the rounds.

If you are sent a text message from ‘365 online’ that states “Your BOI account has been suspended” along with a link to reverify your account information, do not provide your identification details.

The link takes you to a mirror of the Bank of Ireland website that appears identical, but is entirely fake.

As the official Bank of Ireland website notes:

“If you suspect you have received a fraudulent email, text or call or have been asked to provide your personal or banking information (username, pin, etc.) in an unusual manner, such as by pop-up or web page, report it immediately. Do not reply to or follow any of the instructions provided, regardless of how genuine they may appear.”

Be on your guard…
