Beaches

And there’s a new entry at number one.

We might not get weather that lends itself to regular trips to the seaside, but Ireland is still home to some of the most beautiful beaches around.

Most of them – at least according to TripAdvisor, who have revealed their annual travellers’ choice list of the best beaches by country, by region and in the world overall – are located on the west coast and specifically in Kerry, which once again dominates the list of the top ten beaches in the country.

Inch Beach in Kerry has jumped three places to the top spot in 2018, one of four Kerry beaches in the top ten alongside Coumeenoole Beach in Dingle, Derrynane Beach in Caherdaniel and last year’s number one, Banna Strand.

Two beaches in Cork, Inchydoney and Barleycove, and Dog’s Bay Beach in Roundstone in Galway made the top five, while there was also mention for beaches in Donegal and Sligo in the top ten.

Inch Beach, meanwhile, was also named at number 22 in the top 25 beaches in Europe, with La Concha Beach in San Sebastian in Spain once again coming out on top.
