Beards have made a real comeback in the last decade, peaking somewhere around 2015 before starting to fade back out of society again...
But if you've been thinking of getting rid of your beard, it might be time to think again. The
Journal of Evolutionary Biology, which, yes, is as serious as it sounds, asked 8,500 women to rate men with and without beards.
The participants were given photos of men clean-shaven, five days without shaving, ten days without a shave, and then four whole weeks without shaving.
Of the four categories, men with ten-day stubble scored the highest in terms of attractiveness. Sadly for those of you out there who can't grow a beard, clean-shaven was rock bottom. In between were full beard, followed by the light stubble option.
So there you have it. If you've been thinking about going naked on your face, consider waiting it out a few days... Of course it's entirely possible that you are beautiful enough that hiding any of your face beneath a beard would be a disservice to humanity, in which case it's surely better to go clean-shaven and not be bullied by some kind of survey.
