It’s not the kind of silverware Fergie would approve of, but David Beckham added to his reputation as a style icon after picking up ‘Most Stylish Man’ at the GQ Awards last night.

The 38 year-old was honoured for his contribution to the fashion industry and also recognised for the fact that he has dapper dripping from his pores.

“Like no other athlete, David Beckham represents style and fashion influence,” said GQ Editor-in-Chief.

“With his trendsetting and sometimes daring appearances he has created a bridge between the world of design, models, and photographers, and the world of world-class sports, and brought glamour back to a male sport.”

Speaking of sport, the WBA and IBF super-middleweight champion Carl Froch picked up the gong in the sports category, with the not so shy and retiring Piers Morgan picking up the television personality accolade.

Beckham wasn’t the only former Man Utd player to be acknowledged on the night as Bobby Charlton was honoured for his contribution to the game, while other winners included The Arctic Monkeys (Best Band), Michael Douglas (Legend), Noel Gallagher (Icon), Emma Watson (Woman of the Year) and Kylie Minogue (Gentlewoman of the Year).
