Willie Daly, Ireland’s most infamous love doctor, has urged young people to get involved in the festival which he says is better than Tinder or the internet for hooking up and finding a long-term meaningful relationship
Speaking ahead of the launch of the six-week romantic festival which takes place in Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare, Daly said his old fashioned methods were far better than anything you could find on the internet, which, he says, he doesn’t go near.
The 73-year old introduces people himself, sits them down over a cup of tea and stays with them to make sure there is no awkwardness.
Daly also said he has matched up over 1,000 people in the past 12 months but all people over 40.
“But I’d like to hear from more young people who are looking to meet someone. My message to them is that it’s far more effective to touch a person than the keys of a computer.”
The matchmaking festival runs from August 28 to October 4.
‘The Outing’, the LGBT weekend, will run for a third year from October 2 – 4.
