This ad for the Wild Atlantic Way is… different?
American people with a particularly twiddledy-dee perception of the Irish people are going to love Tourism Ireland’s new ad for the Wild Atlantic Way.
Irish people, on the other hand, will probably hate it.
Making the most of the Star Wars phenomenon in order to bring people to the West of Ireland from all corners of the globe, the ad is being pitched as a “fun, irreverent promotional film” that will roll out in 15 territories – Britain, the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Nordic region, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India and the Gulf States.
It’s all quite tongue-in-cheek, with Star Wars-style wipes and sound effects, as we’re referred to as a ‘welcoming pre-Hyper Drive society’ with images of horses, carriages, golf, beaches, budgies and begorrah.
To be sure, to be sure.
