PIC: This guy’s incredibly honest account of a blind date has gone viral and with good reason

Brutal honesty.

Fair play to the guy for being honest and everything, but he comes across as a bit of an eejit.

The proliferation of dating shows on TV these days has shown us that, barring the odd exception, there’s an etiquette that people seem happy to follow when a blind date doesn’t go to plan.

Strangers meeting for the first time aren’t always going to hit it off, but usually, people in that situation are happy to be polite about the fact that they don’t want to see the other person again rather than hurt the other person’s feelings.

Billy, a 24-year-old actor living in New York, obviously didn’t get the memo about blind date etiquette judging by his responses in a feature in Time Out New York magazine called Meet The Undateables, in which two New Yorkers who swear they’re totally undateable are paired together to see if they’ll hit it off.

Safe to say that Billy and his date in this week’s feature, Alyssa, absolutely did not hit it off and a quick glance at their responses to the questions posed of them about the date soon reveals that Billy was the biggest barrier to their compatibility.

Take their responses to ‘first impression’ for example…

Alyssa: “I didn’t want to be that girl who’s late, and I was trying really hard, but I was about three minutes late. He stood up, and we hugged. He was really nice and charming.”

Billy: “She was about five minutes late, which annoyed the shit out of me. As soon as she walked into the room, I knew she wasn’t the girl for me. She didn’t have the goods.”

It went downhill quickly from there.

Asked about the most awkward moment from the date, Billy replied: “She ordered her fillet mignon well done. The waiter just looked at me, and I looked at the waiter. I was like, ‘Live your life, but this is not Outback Steakhouse, girl.’ ”

After complaining about Alyssa’s request for ice-cream prolonging the date by another 20 minutes, Billy’s final verdict included the lines, “there was nothing drawing me in” and “I feel like I took two hours of my time and kind of just burned it”.

Jesus Billy, why don’t you just tell us what you really think.
