For a really special post-wedding break, it is hard to beat Kenya, where the beach and a safari can be combined.
Picking what to do for your honeymoon is one of the more pleasurable bits of pre-wedding planning. It beats working out the seating plan anyway.
But deciding what to do, and where to go, can be hard. You will be wrecked after the wedding so you’ll want a place to relax but you’ll also want the honeymoon to be special, and a step or two above your average summer break.
So Kenya is absolutely ideal, as it is one of the few places on earth where you can have a relaxing beach holiday and then go on a mind-blowing safari.
South of Mombasa, the second largest city in Kenya there are a host of resorts, with palm fringed white sand beaches and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
The coast line is dotted with coral, and is teeming with life such as sea turtles and dolphins. Both outer and inner reef walls offer world-class diving with spectacular coral gardens and drop offs. And if you prefer to stay on dry land the rain forests offer all sorts of different adventures.
Once you have chilled out and gotten the wedding stress out of your system you should be all set to tackle a safari. Going on safari is a truly magical experience and the sheer beauty of the African landscape and wildlife can’t be overestimated.
Kenya offers the Big Five (Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Rhino and Elephant) and if you go at the right time of year you can also catch the Great Wildebeest Migration, when the vast herds of zebra and wildebeest pass through the Masai Mara.
With all sorts of accommodation from luxury tents to lodges available, it really is a special way to round of what would be a very special honeymoon.
