Boy George has a unique outfit for this year’s series.

It’s just a few days now until this year’s edition of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’ kicks off.

The ITV series will make its long-awaited return to the jungle in Australia, with celebrities including Mike Tindall, Chris Moyle and, of course, Matt Hancock all set to take part.

But the biggest star heading into camp this year will be Boy George, who is far and away the most valuable contestant in the jungle this year.

And the popstar looks like he’s going to stand out in more ways than one.

While the campmates have always sported khaki outfits over the years, in promo shots for this series, the singer, 61, wore a special hat and had red spots across his shirt.

But the reason for the outfit is very simple – he just asked.

A show source told Metro that Boy George, whose real name is George Alan O’Dowd, enquired as to whether he could customise the garment for the promotional shoot, and ITV said yes.

It turns out this was a dealbreaker for the ‘Karma Chameleon’ singer, as he apparently turned down the opportunity to appear in the series in 2016 because of the clothes campmates need to wear.

“There would be serious clothing restrictions in the jungle”, he said, adding that he would have to get “certain hats made” and “couldn’t get over the food.”

The new series of ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!’ will begin on Sunday, November 6, with a bumper 105-minute episode.

The date is earlier than the show’s usual slot in mid-November. This is to avoid a clash with this winter’s World Cup, with only the series’ final week overlapping with ITV’s coverage of the tournament.

The series is returning to Australia for the first time since 2019 after two years in Wales because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
