Yep, every 6 January is the busiest day of the year for online dating and matchmaking according to several online dating outlets. In fact, it is reported that most dating apps and websites will be 75% busier today than on an average day.
Speaking to USA Today, Julie Spira, a cyber-dating expert, spells out the reasons why today is so popular:
“It’s the perfect trifecta. You have people recovering from a breakup or who were down during the holidays, you have all those New Year’s resolutions, and you have the clock ticking down to Valentine’s Day. It’s the first lonely holiday after the New Year.”
Also, one of the folks behind one of the leading dating apps stated that 11.30pm is the prime time to be hitting the online single’s market.
