Every year, people keep asking and every year, he delivers the same response.
You’re probably already well aware, but today, 8 March, is International Women’s Day.
As is the case every year, it is a day to pay tribute to the female figures in your life and to commemorate the struggles that women have endured to achieve equality throughout history.
As is also the case every year without fail, however, some men feel the need to question why there is no such thing as an International Men’s Day and those men aren’t shy of asking that question aloud, or on social media at least.
If they had bothered to check, they’ll know that there is such a thing as International Men’s Day and it falls every year on 19 November, but thankfully, there is a man who spends a large chunk of his day putting that select group of menfolk in their place.
That man is stand-up comedian Richard Herring, who, as well as highlighting the existence of International Men’s Day, is also helping to raise funds for Refuge, a charity seeking to end domestic violence against women and children while he’s at it.
As you can see below, Richard is doing the Lord’s work and it looks like he has a very busy day ahead of him yet.
OK, looks like it might be quite a long day. One day my work will be done. But not this year. Help me through and weave goodness from stupidity https://t.co/XV522ImcQR

When shall we get an International Men's Day…🤔
— Tathagata M (@mukhopadhyayt) March 8, 2018
I reckon let’s just stick with the one we’ve got on November 19th. In the mean time let’s continue work on finding the cure for hand stuck to face syndrome https://t.co/IgeMIwO8Z1

Suppose I’ll get fired for asking when International Men’s Day is? #internationalwomensday2018

Very brave of you to ask then, knowing that your boss would react in that way. If only you’d googled it you could have kept silent and kept your job. Anyone got some work for this guy? He’s a bit impetuous, but it’s only a problem if you hate easily answerable questions. https://t.co/DX9QwhGXwU

I am clever enough to see through that ruse – wait a free worm… dammit, november 19th. Throw me back. (and pay me for this kindness NOW https://t.co/XV522ImcQR) https://t.co/OhCjXtKYCL

International women’s day? Imagine an International Men’s Day, blokes commenting “love you boy”, and “killing it handsome ❤️” on each other’s posts 😂😂😂😂

You’re killing it handsome. And will let you know again on November 19th https://t.co/YmjuJxnPoY

Mate, I do it for the attention of men. Or at least to distract their attention. C’mon let’s be friends. What shall we do to celebrate the international men’s day that you so coveted? https://t.co/yXuCVx23D4

Getting a donation about once every ten seconds. What an incredible result https://t.co/XV522ImcQR

The theme for International Women’s Day 2018, meanwhile, is #PressforProgress, which notes global activism in the form of movements such as #MeToo and #TimesUp and the movement for gender parity, which is still 200 years away according to the World Economic Forum 2017 Global Gender Gap report.
