Canada is the best place in the world to live, according to a new “wellness index”

Canada

Oh, Canada.

Every year, thousands of Irish people venture over to Canada, be it as part of the IEC work permit, or for a more long-term move.

And those who do tend to be quite happy with their decision.

It’s beautiful, fun, welcoming, and just a great place to be in general.

And this is clearly a popular opinion around the world.

A new analysis, the Global Wellness Index published by investment firm LetterOne, ranks Canada as the best country out of the 151 nations evaluated.

According to Bloomberg, Canada ranks highly due to its good scores for blood pressure, life expectancy and government healthcare spending, but it also pays close attention to the country’s high happiness levels.

We reckon it would score fairly highly in the “soundness” category as well…

The Indigo Wellness Index tracks the world’s healthiest countries across ten key measures: blood pressure, blood glucose, obesity, depression, happiness, alcohol use, tobacco use, exercise, healthy life expectancy, and government spending on healthcare.

The U.K. was ranked 15th, held back by high rates of obesity and inactivity, while Ireland weren’t included in the survey.

Big countries such as Japan, Germany, France or Italy failed to make the new survey’s global top 25, with all four faring poorly for rates of high blood pressure, while countries in the Middle East performed well largely due to their good alcohol use scores.
