The stars have aligned.

A chicken wing festival is coming to Wicklow this summer, which’ll see a whole weekend dedicated to a line-up of “wingtastic” activities.

Kicking off over the weekend of 20, 21 and 22 July, the Wings Food Fest includes over 15 wing pop ups who will be serving up a selection of the good stuff.

Due to popular demand, the festival’s famous wing eating competitions are also back. The powers-that-be want to find the person who can eat the most wings against the clock and someone who can survive the hottest wings that Ireland has to offer.

You can even win some free wings at their ‘Wing a Roo’ stand, by spinning a wing on the bandstand. There is also a fully fledged Bingo Wing Tent free for all to try.

As with every year, the festival organisers are on the hunt for the best chicken wings in their Wing-Off.

They’ll be asking people around the country to nominate their favourite venue that serves wings. People have until 11.59pm on Sunday 8 July to have your voice heard. They will then compile the suggestions and put together a poll for a public vote. You can vote for your favourite place here.

The festival also boasts the Seafront fun fair, over 30 street food and craft market as well as live music and DJs which will be providing light entertainment for the weekend. And the best part? It’s absolutely free.

Everything kicks off at 6pm on the Friday, and for those interested, you can check out more information here.
