“Let us stand on the right side of history this time.”
In the lead up to the vote on the Eighth Amendment on Friday 25 May, more and more Irish celebrities are coming out in force in support of a Yes vote.
Last week, a star-filled video featuring the likes of Saoirse Ronan, Cillian Murphy, Tom Vaughn-Lawlor, Peter Coonan, Andrew Scott, Liam Cunningham, Moe Dunford, Ciaran Hinds, James Nesbitt, Victoria Smurfit, Pauline McLynn and loads more was released to the public.
Earlier this weekend, comedian David O’Doherty also posted a heartfelt video message in support of repealing the Eighth Amendment, and now Chris O’Dowd is the latest well-known Irish native to put their support behind the Yes vote.
The 38-year-old comedian and actor was born in Boyle in County Roscommon, and in a new short video released with Roscommon Together For Yes, calling special mention to “Let us stand on the right side of history this time”, most likely a reference to the fact that Roscommon was the only county in the country to vote against the passing of the Marriage Referendum, albeit marginally.
