Kellogg’s has produced a coffee-flavoured breakfast cereal – offering mocha fans a double-whammy in the morning.
The cereal brand has launched a Barista Edition Chocolate Mocha Flavour of its classic Crunchy Nut Granola, which is infused with the taste of the coffee bean.
A team of food developers spent 18 months sampling different coffee flavours to make sure the balance and strength was ‘just right’ and suitable for everyone’s different tastes.
While 12 different recipes were created before tasters settled on the final one.
And rather than pieces of coffee scattered around the cereal, like the milk chocolate and almonds also featured, it is flavoured throughout the pieces of granola.
'It seemed like the right next step for us'
A spokesperson for Kellogg’s, which is launching the cereal in Waitrose next week before rolling it out in other stores over the coming months, said: “We know coffee is one of the UK’s favourite morning drinks.
“So, it seemed like the right next step for us to look into how we could combine the crunch of our Crunchy Nut Granola with the delicious flavour of coffee.
“Coffee and breakfast is a natural partnership – and our Barista Edition has been influenced by Europe’s café culture and the continental love of coffee and cereal.
“Our coffee tastes are all different, so our team of developers spent months sampling different types of coffee to try and get a flavour that was well rounded and just right for everyone.”
The launch comes hot on the heels of Crunchy Nut Salted Caramel Flavour Twist – the first adaptation of the classic honey-nut coated, golden Crunchy Nut flakes since it launched in 1980.
