Not all heroes wear capes.

Competitive eater Molly Schuyler gnawed her way to the top spot this weekend as she managed to get through a record 501 chicken wings in 30 minutes to win her third Wing Bowl in Philadelphia.

The 127 pound mother-of-four chowed down an impressive 501 wings (that’s 16.7 wings every minute), smashing the previous record of 444 wings in thirty minutes, set in 2015.

Wing Bowl is usually Philadelphia’s substitute for the Eagles going to the Super Bowl.

This year’s Bowl, Wing Bowl 26, drew nearly 20,000 people to the Wells Fargo Centre to watch Schuyler be crowned the winner.

The event was started back in the ’90s by local sports radio hosts and is usually staged two days before the Super Bowl. It has since turned into a huge, boozy spectacle, boasting an array of flamboyant contestants and a competition for women called “Wingettes.”

Schuyler is a superstar in the professional eating world.

Later in October, Schuyler became the first person to attempt (and win), the Nebraska Brewing Company’s Death Pizza challenge, a 5 pounds (2.3 kg) pie covered in sauce made with ghost chili peppers. She finished in 24 minutes, 56 seconds.

In early 2014, Schuyler broke the 72 ounces (2.0 kg) steak eating world record, having eaten it in 2 minutes and 44 seconds at Sayler’s Old Country Kitchen in Portland, Oregon. The prior record at that restaurant was 12 minutes and 53 seconds. The prior world record was 6 minutes 38 seconds.

Molly Schuyler was named the winner of the July 27, 2017 episode of ABC’s revived “The Gong Show.” Her performance consisted of her eating six large deli containers full of cottage cheese in under 90 seconds.

In 2013, she signed with the competitive eating organisation All Pro Eating.
