Confirmed – Jeremy Clarkson’s contract “will not be renewed” by the BBC

BBC director general Tony Hall reportedly had ‘little alternative’

The BBC have had their say.

According to a report in The Guardian, “BBC director general Tony Hall is understood to have decided he has ‘little alternative’ after report into fracas with producer.”

The Top Gear producer in question is Irishman, Oisín Tymon.

A BBC investigation into the ‘fracas’ found that Clarkson engaged Tymon in a 20-minute verbal tirade before a 30-second physical altercation broke out.

The Guardian reports that a source close to the inquiry said: “There can’t be one rule for talent and one rule for ordinary human beings.”

Apparently, the BBC will attempt to go ahead with Top Gear, even without Clarkson, and it’s also being reported that both Richard Hammond’s and James May’s contracts run out next week and negotiations have been put on hold until the investigation had concluded.

It’s rumoured that BBC bosses are keen to get Chris Evans on board to take the reigns of the hugely popular motoring show and we’ve also seen other rumours suggesting Clarkson is headed for a new contract with Netflix.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

Here’s what the man himself had to say earlier this morning…
