Controversial psychologist Jordan Peterson to speak at an event in Dublin this summer

Alan Loughnane

Peterson’s book, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos is a bestseller…

Many people will be familiar with Jordan Peterson, although some will have only learned the name following his viral clip from a Channel 4 interview earlier this year.

He took on interviewer, Cathy Newman, for her interpretation of the gender pay gap and patriarchy. He left her without a response and she admitted that it was a “gotcha” moment on air.

Peterson, an psychologist, author and often controversial culture critic, will star at an event in the 3Arena called Winning The War Of Ideas on 14 July, 2018.

Also appearing at the event will be author, philosopher, neuroscientist, blogger, and podcast host Sam Harris, who will challenge Peterson’s philosophical positions, and political commentator Douglas Murray.

This is a description of the event as per the 3Arena website:

This will be the WOODSTOCK of live speaking & debate. Harris has mentioned that he strongly disagrees with many philosophical positions that Peterson holds and believes that some of those positions are dangerous. British author and political commentator Douglas Murray will be tasked with refereeing this heavyweight bought, whilst providing his own insight into the contentious issues that will arise.

The event will consist of a 90 minute discussion followed by a one hour Q&A with the audience with tickets for the event going on sale on Ticketmaster on Friday.

Below is the clip from Channel 4 which gained a lot of attention earlier this year.
