The most famous redhead of all is getting the golden treatment, free tokens in his name.

It is finally the month of May and thus Ed Sheeran month for the island of Ireland, as the multi award-winning singer kicks off his extraordinary nine shows across the Emerald Isle.

His first show kicks off on Friday, 4 May in Cork, followed swiftly by two more consecutive shows in the rebel county.

He will then play Belfast on 9 May, Galway on 12 and 13 May and then finish up with three nights in the Phoenix Park in Dublin.

To celebrate his arrival, Barcadia, an 80s styled retro-arcade bar in Cork is offering something special to redheads over the weekend.

They are offering free tokens (which can be used to play the video games) to anyone with red hair who comes in over the weekend.

Staff at the bar took to Facebook to make the announcement.

“FREE BAG OF TOKENS FOR RED HEADS!!!!! So, for no particular reason we are giving away bags of tokens to red heads all weekend. Offer available Friday to Monday, T&C one per ginger, beards don’t count, limited to 50 per day. TAG A GINGER FRIEND!!!!!”

Barcadia is a retro arcade, situated in the Mardyke Entertainment Complex, with a full kitchen and bar.

The entertainment complex boasts dozens of meticulously restored machines, guaranteeing an authentic 80s and 90s experience for all who go there.

They are also offering a number of “red hot deals” all weekend to anyone who graces their establishment.
