WATCH: Every dog owner will relate to this woman protecting her dog at the Crufts final

Rory Cashin

When did Crufts become an episode of 24?

Sunday evening, watching dogs run around a little square, and then the best and prettiest dog gets a ribbon.

People who love Crufts, absolutely LOVE it, and people who don’t understand it… well, there’s plenty of you, too.

However, this final of Crufts was slightly different, as the entire staff were eventually sent into a flurry of activity for reasons that we’re still not entire sure about.

It all started innocently enough, when the winner of Crufts was finally announced, a whippet named Collooney Tartan Tease:

However, almost immediately after this, it appears that somebody attempted to storm the Crufts grounds (which is right up there in terms of sentences we never thought we’d find ourselves writing), and the reaction of the winning dog’s owner is nothing short of incredible.

Watch as the winner – Yvette Short – goes from celebratory to vigilantly protective in the blink of an eye:

Everyone at home was thrown into a state of disbelief and shock.

Was this an actual attempted dog-napping?

Or just a roll-over from the West Ham pitch invasion from earlier this weekend?

Either way, dog-owning viewers certainly found a kindred spirit with that protect-and-run lady:

It all ended with security taking down the invader, and … well, that appears to be that.

But we’ll definitely be checking back in next year, because we had no idea this show was this exciting.
