There is going to be a massive Garth Brooks tribute concert in Dalymount Park on July 26th, complete with pyro-technics and all the bells and whistles.

Disgruntled Garth Brooks fans may be in mourning over the Croke Park debacle, but Bohemian Football Club, in association with 98FM and Temple St Children’s Hospital, are offering an alternative of sorts. They are putting on a big open air concert in the famous old venue in Phibsboro for Garth Brooks fans.

Dalymount Park (pic above) has hosted concerts before including performances from the likes of Bob Marley, Thin Lizzy and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Before the cynics jump on the idea that this is cashing in on people’s misfortune, it should be noted that a large percentage of the ticket  sales will go to Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Details were announced on the Ray Foley Show this morning and you can read the statement in full below…

The Ray Foley Breakfast Show on Dublin’s 98FM revealed this morning that they will be bringing devastated Garth Brooks fans the Ultimate Garth Brooks Experience live from Dalymount Park next Saturday 26th July in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Taking it upon himself to help heal the wounds of fans following the controversial cancellation of the gigs, Ray has pulled together a tribute concert a mile down the road from Croke Park in Dalymount Park, generously donated by the Bohemian Football Club, with nearly 2,500 fans expected to attend! Ray Foley will host the event and also DJ on the night.

Speaking about the upcoming event, Foley said “#Garthgate has been such a hot topic for the last number of weeks with the station receiving hundreds of texts from disappointed fans. We found ourselves in a position to help the situation so we jumped at it. And the best part is 98FM will be able to raise money for Temple Street Children’s Hospital while doing so”.

The headline act playing on the night is called ‘Friends in Low Places’ –  the Ultimate Garth Brooks Experience led by front man Trevor Smith. Since 2009, Trevor has been recognised as one of the best Garth Brooks lookalike’s and soundalikes in the country and has developed his show into an exciting and electrifying world class production, consisting of a live 8 piece band. The band have been approached by a lot of big event organisers since the controversial cancellation and have turned them all down in favour of working with 98FM and raising funds for Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Tickets are priced at €25 per person, with proceeds going to Temple Street Children’s Hospital and are available to purchase on 98FM.com. No need to worry about cancellations this time!
