Remember the priest who couldn’t stop laughing in Father Ted, even when asking directions to the toilet, or as he called it, “the old heh heh”?
Barty Dunne was his name and although he was an entirely fictional character, his real-life female equivalent called into Dermot and Dave on Wednesday for three of the funniest minutes of radio you’ll hear all year.
The lady in question, Carina (she tried to provide Ann as a false name but later admitted her true identity), rang the show during a segment when Dermot and Dave were discussing people’s smells, prompting Carina to relay a tale of a first date from her teenage years that went badly awry.
The story itself is very funny and rather than spoiling it for you, we’ll let Carina do the honours below, but by far the best thing about the clip below is Carina’s abject failure to stop herself from laughing and the effect it has on Dermot and Dave throughout.
