Passengers on the number 16 bus broke into a round of applause for the driver in Dublin today, following his random act of kindness to a blind man.
Journalist Nick Royle was a passenger on the bus when it stopped near Beaumont on Dublin's Northside.
Nick told JOE how initially he thought it was a typical delay for a change of drivers, until he saw the driver with a blind man holding a white stick.
"On the Santry Road he stopped the bus, I was like 'oh for f*ck's sake, typical delays. Then I realised what was going on," he said.
"The gentleman was a pensioner with a white stick and the driver left the bus with him. He then walked with the man all the way to his front door to see him off safely.
"Nobody on the bus had a clue what was going on initially, but when the driver came back and gave a gruff, "sorry about that," the whole bus broke out into a round of applause.
"I tried to get a picture but, unfortunately, my phone didn't co-operate."
Nick tweeted about it afterwards, and we hope the reply stating that the driver will get into trouble for leaving the bus unattended doesn't come to pass.
