WATCH: This Dublin Bus celebration of Gay Pride is the most heartwarming thing you’ll see today

Dublin Bus Pride

We’re not crying, you are…

Last weekend saw the celebration of Dublin Pride, and it looked like a class time altogether.

There was a fantastic turnout in Dublin, with loads of sold out party events, and a really positive vibe overall.

The manager of this year’s Dublin Pride event, Eddie McGuiness spoke about the importance of the event, saying: “We encourage everybody to look after themselves and look after each other. This years theme is ‘We Are Family’, a celebration of all families.”

And if Dublin Bus’ video is anything to go by, the message was understood loud and clear.

The purpose of the video was to show off some of Dublin’s finest dads, and how proud they were of their children who represent the LGBTQ+ community.

They hopped on Stephen McEvoy’s ‘Proudest Bus’ in their most colourful clothes, and showed their children just how accepting they were, and that “we shouldn’t be closed to ideas like that”.

Have a look for yourself, and do your utmost not to shed a tear of happiness and pride (get it) for these absolute legends.

One of the best quotes from the video comes when one dad says: “Anybody would be delighted to have one gay son. But to have two?! I’d impress anybody with that story”.

But one moment stands out to us, when one of the proud dads tells his personal story: “Eight months ago she told she was going to be trans. And two months ago she said she’s changing her name to Michael, and that ‘she’s going to be ‘he’.

The video then sees the dad embrace his son, saying “Howiya Michael? I always told you I’d be proud of you, and I always told you I’d support you. Let’s go to Pride, son.”

Nope, definitely nothing in our eye. Must be the wind or something…
