Dublin Fire Brigade has issued a warning to Irish households about safety checks that need to be done on dryers. It follows an incident in Dublin after a dryer caught fire.

They’ve pointed out that now is the time to check your machines to make sure they are functioning properly and safely, especially since the weather is turning colder and winter is approaching.

You may not have used the dryer over the summer and so it’s important to check the water supply and also the filter for any lint build up.

Taking to Twitter they said, “With the weather changing, time to clean the lint filters & check water tanks on tumble dryers? D Watch attended this dryer fire overnight.”
