Dublin is the world’s friendliest city according to this Twitter survey

Good news

JOE

The tourists love the Dubs.

Well, the ones on social media anyway.

Twitter has decided that Dublin is the world’s friendliest tourist destination to visit in new research carried out by ebookers.com.

The research looked at thousands of tweets and compiled nine popular phrases used by tourists to describe a location on social media such as ‘beautiful sunset’, ‘amazing views’, ‘delicious food’, ‘great weather’ and ‘friendly locals’ to find out what places had the highest level of positive feedback.

From the study, it was found that Dublin had the friendliest locals and was the second-most enjoyable destination just behind Nice, France.

The tweets also found that Ireland was the fifth most enjoyable country for holidaymakers, trailing Spain, the UK, Thailand, and Italy.

The good news comes after six Irish attractions made it into the list of the world’s top 500 must see sights of all time put together by Lonely Planet.

The six attractions were The Giant’s Causeway in Co Antrim, The Cliffs of Moher, Brú na Bóinne, the Titanic Centre in Belfast, the Rock of Cashel, Trinity College Dublin and the prehistoric tombs including Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth.

Keep the accolades coming everyone, us Irish just love to hear how great we are.
