Dunnes Stores and Spar recall ‘own-brand’ pesto products due to salmonella warning

Rory Cashin

The Food Safety Authority has warned the products may contain the harmful bacteria.

Both Dunnes Stores and Spar have recalled some of their own-brand pesto products this week due to the possible presence of salmonella.

As per the Food Safety Authority’s statement:

“As a precautionary measure, Dunnes Stores and Spar are initiating a recall of their own brand pestos, due to the possible presence of Salmonella. Consumers who have bought the implicated batches should dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase.”

The Dunnes Stores products are both the 130g containers of Basil Pesto and Tomato Pesto, with use-by dates between July and September.

The Spar products are the 125g containers of Basil Pesto and Red Pesto, also both with use-by dates between July and September.

For full details on the recall, you can check the FSA website here.
