Eight Irish food businesses were issued closure orders in April

April hasn’t been a good month for restaurants in Dublin’s city centre with six closure orders being issued to various establishments.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) have reported that eight Closure Orders in total were served to Irish food businesses for breaches of food safety legislation, pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998 and the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010.

The five Closure Orders were served under the FSAI Act, 1998 on:

  • Jaffa (restaurant), 10 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2 ( closed between 27th and 28th April)
  • Anu’s Kitchen (restaurant), Unit 3, Glen Abbey Complex, Belgard Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24 (closed between the 21st and 27th)
  • Asian Spices Food Market (grocery), 12 Moore Street, Dublin 1 (closed for three days)
  • Buffet 79 (restaurant), 10 Moore Street, Dublin 1 (closed for four days)
  • Chill Out Break Café (restaurant), 11 Moore Street, Dublin 1 (orders issued from 5th and 11th April)

Three other Closure Orders were served under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010 on:

  • Relish (restaurant), Unit G8 & 9, Dundrum Village Centre, Dundrum, Dublin 14 ( 22nd and 25th)
  • Wok Inn Chinese Take Away, Lower Main Street, Ferns, Wexford (closed for nine days between 19th and 27th April)
  • Lotus (restaurant) (Closed Area: applies to all areas of the food business with the exception of the low risk retail area i.e. off licence and shop), 70 South Main Street, Wexford (closed from 6th and 28th April)
