Getting closer each year.

Electric Picnic was awarded official Fairtrade status in 2012 and the festival continues to support Fairtrade’s work which focuses on tackling poverty by enabling disadvantaged producers from poor countries fairer access to the market and better terms of trade.

This means that all the tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate and bananas that are served at Ireland’s most popular festival must be Fairtrade certified.

Peter Gaynor, Executive Director of Fairtrade Ireland commented: “In 2014 over 75% of traders served Fairtrade tea and hot chocolate at the festival, which is brilliant! However, there is still room for improvement: our ultimate goal is a 100% Fairtrade Festival. This year again, there will be a Fairest Trader Award, announced from the main stage on the Sunday!”

Electric Picnic takes place in Stradbally, County Laois from September 4th-6th.
