As shared by Musk on Twitter, he claimed that Dmitry Rogozin - a former deputy PM and close ally of Putin's - sent a message to Russian media alleging that his Starlink satellites had been supplied to computer access to fighters in Mariupol.

Rogozin, now the Director-General of Roscosmos (Russia's space program), alleges that internet terminals were provided to troops in the Azov Battalion and Ukrainian Marines.

The message looks as though it may have been confirmed to be Rogozin himself on the Russian social media app, Telegram, where the screengrab appears to have been taken from.

Sent prior to Musk's tweets, the lengthy caption accompanies a video of Musk attending the Met Gala with his mother last Monday (2 May).

As somewhat of a competitor in regards to space travel, the pair were have had previous feuds prior to this, one including Rogozin labelling him a "little devil" after he challenged the Russian president to single combat.

Musk went on to joke, "If I die under mysterious circumstances, it's been nice knowing ya", while many online noted that the politician's own tweets on the platform the billionaire now owns appear protected.

While the screenshot is yet to be fully verified, it appears genuine at this stage - and even more likely given the pair's previous run-ins.

Musk recently made major headlines following his purchase of the social media platform Twitter.

The deal in question is worth a reported $44 billion.
